It’s a been a little while since I’ve posted a cool summer activity for the kids. We’re about halfway through summer vacation and quickly running out of things to do. For a couple of dollars and a minute of your time, your kids and their friends can have a wet, laughter-filled time. Sponge bombs seem to attract the attention of not only boys, but girls as well. With a little imagination, sponges and water, they’ll have a blast! They could be used on the ground or in the pool. Throw a bucket or two in the mix for some strategic fun!
- Take regular household sponges (can be purchased at any discount store for a small price) and cut them into thirds.
- Wrap an elastic hairband or rubber band around the center and you’re set!
Time to get them soaked in some water and let the fun begin.
Grab a friend and a couple of buckets — each person kneels in front of a bucket filled to the top with water. The object of the game is to hurl the sponge bombs into each other’s buckets! You WILL get wet!
Gather up all of the sponge bombs and play again (and again)! Sponge bombs are completely reusable.
Thank you to Inner Child Fun for the fantastic idea and video tutorial!
