Mark Your Calendars! Make This Holiday Season Memorable for Less Fortunate Children!

texasWe are barely past Halloween and I’m sure not one of you wants to think of how fast the holiday season is approaching. But, there are a select group of individuals who are extremely excited about the upcoming festivities: Children!

Nothing feels more amazing than the feeling of Christmas and other winter holidays, the excitement of opening gifts and spending time with family. Unfortunately, we are all aware of how this joyous time of year affects children who aren’t as fortunate as others. It’s beyond difficult for the children of these circumstances to enjoy the things others do knowing that they won’t be on the receiving end of the generosity. You can help change that!

The Bar Foundation (charitable arm of the Cumberland County Bar Association) hosts fundraisers throughout the year to make sure that needy, abused and mentally unstable children have a happy holiday season. The Foundation and its members host an annual shopping party at Toys R Us, in Vineland, and purchase over 200 gifts for these children. After the shopping party, the members take time out on a Friday evening for some pizza as they wrap and tag all of the gifts. This year, on December 14th, the Foundation will hold its annual Holiday Breakfast at Gia’s in Bridgeton. Each child gets to meet Frosty the Snowman, Santa and the Mrs. and their trusty and lovable Elf while enjoying a hot breakfast, a gift and a book.

With our economy in such poor condition, funds needed to host this event have run short. Not wanting the children to feel yet another impact from stress or disappointment, the Cumberland County College Paralegal Studies Department and its students put their heads together to keep the event going. On November 13, from 4 to 10 p.m., the students will be hosting a fundraiser at Texas Roadhouse, in Millville, for the Bar Foundation in an effort to raise funds for the children’s gifts.

Ten percent of proceeds earned will be sent to the Foundation to help fund the holiday gifts. The coupon must be present as no coupons will be issued at the door. You can print this invitation or show it via your phone when you’re there. If you would like an invitation emailed to you, please send a request to Jennkaysen@gmail.com. Help make this year an all-around success. Your support will allow the children to have an extra special holiday!

Area agencies the Foundation helps are: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cumberland County, CASA of Cumberland, Salvation Army in Bridgeton and the Salvation Army in Vineland.
